History through Storytelling

The main focus of this project is building the Loomis-Elkey family tree through personal narratives and storytelling. While archival research is also a large part of this work, we are driven by a goal to connect with members of the family and document, preserve, and amplify their stories.

Our goals for the project include expanding on existing archival research, interviewing family members, and documenting our journey.

Librarian Wendy Taylor teaching us the basics of genealogical research

As we work on the project, we are documenting the process and the skills we learn, with the intention of creating instructional resources for others to use to do their own genealogical research. These resources can be located in the navigation menu under Doing Your Own Genealogy.
