Included on this page are fifteen crimes that inmates at the Old New-Gate Prison were convicted of. The information regarding these crimes remains ever-evolving due to continuous research being conducted. To study these individuals’ lives further, we have provided a prisoner’s list documenting information about the sentenced individuals. To gain a better understanding concerning the races, ages, and sentence times of the individuals incarcerated, various statistical breakdowns given. Additionally, this website entails a map of Connecticut to visualize where these individuals were convicted. For certain crimes, Connecticut state statutes are provided to analyze the laws around the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century and to compare and contrast them to how Connecticut prosecutes these crimes today.
