Artist’s Statement

Nature shows us similarities between structure and pattern on every scale, from molecular to galactic. The relationship between these micro and macro forms seem to always be in tandem. While camping next to the dunes of Sossusvlei and The Skeleton Coast in Namibia, I was as vital as a grain of sand to the vast space and structural landscape. The wind was constantly changing the architecture of the land, and I was unable to contemplate the visual stimulation. My greatest fascination came from the sand that covered my feet and fell in the same manor as the large dunes that stretched for miles around me. It was an overwhelming reminder of perspective. I went to the dunes in search of adventure and beauty. After leaving, I started a new search, a way to see them from a different vantage point. With Google Earth open in the browser, and my photographs sharing the screen, my exploration continued.
