Working Through / Working Forward honors the importance of artistic practice and creative resolve during these unprecedented times of upheaval and uncertainty.
2020 and 2021 have been historic years marked by the presence of a devastating global pandemic, national turmoil, and the environment in crisis. Many artists turned to the familiar ground of their studios to process what was happening beyond. Some used the time in isolation to work on ongoing projects while others found their studio practice greatly altered.
The exhibition brings together the work of five regional artists who were invited to share artwork made during these times. Each responded to this newly undefined terrain in their own way. Included are works by David Borawski and Joe Bun Keo of Connecticut; Rosalyn Driscoll and Tekla McInerney of Massachusetts; and Deborra Stewart-Pettengill of New Hampshire.
