Ellen Cushman is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and serves as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Diversity and Inclusion in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University. She is the author of The Cherokee Syllabary: Writing the People’s Perseverance (2012) and over 45 articles and chapters. She is co-editor with Damián Baca and Jonathan Osborne of Landmark Essays: Rhetorics of Difference (Routledge 2018) and with Christina Haas and Mike Rose of Literacies: A Critical Sourcebook (Macmillan 2019).
