Purpose
This website is a research project created by Trinity College students. Using New-Gate’s archival materials, state documents, and individual records, we took a deeper dive into the experiences of incarcerated people at Old New-Gate Prison. The site has served as and will continue to be an ongoing endeavor with compiled resources.
Goals
Created to document individual lives, legal circumstances, and conditions pertaining to New-Gate’s evolution. Additionally, our goal is to humanize the plights of incarcerated people at New-Gate and provide visitors with a deeper informational background composed of facts to understand incarceration during this period further.
